My Top 10 Places to Travel in the Philippines

Share

Here are my top 10 dream destinations in the Philippines.

These are my top 10 places in the Philippines I would recommend anyone to travel. Most of them I've already been to.  What makes them my top 10 is that each one has something different to offer.

Top 10: Boracay

If you want to enjoy the beautiful beach, beach activities, great sunset, a lot of parties, fun people, drinks, great music and nice spa resorts then this beach is for you.  The pros are written above but the con is it's too touristy.   There are some beaches (Tambisaan beach, Puka beach) in the island though that have really few people so you might want to go there instead.  So I guess there's nothing much bad to say about Boracay.

Top 9: Albay

I haven't been here because I particularly wouldn't want to visit a place which only offers few things to see.  However Mt. Mayon is the only mountain with this sleek cone feature that visiting it is special in itself.

This includes Vigan, Pagudpud, and Paoay.  These 3 places we have visited in our 2nd family trip (You could check our 3 days/2nights itinerary here).  Each one was beautiful.  It's actually my favorite family trip we had because we visited different landscapes, a sand dune, beach, old museums, spanish town, and old churches.  I am a sucker for the old vintage flair that's teeming with history so it was my easy bet.

Top 8: Ilocos Region

Top 7: Davao

This is my hometown and I am very proud of my city.  I've written posts here listing the 10 reasons why you should visit Davao and my top 10 places there which I recommend anyone to check out.  Food is cheap, nature tripping activities is abundant, friendly people, safe place, great beaches and really well maintained nature parks.

Top 6: Banaue Rice Terraces

Is located in a place called Sagada, which is 6 hours away from Baguio, another favorite destination of mine.  What I love about Sagada is that there are a lot of things you could do here.  It's more of a cultural immersion and nature tripping than anything else.  I haven't been here but it is definitely in my bucket list.

Top 5: Batanes

This is a long time dream destination of mine.   The community hasn't developed much which makes it special because old traditions and practices are still being done until now.  If you wish to detach from the hustle and bustle of the city and immerse in a century old town then Batanes is the place to be.  The marlboro hills is also a great tourist destination.

Top 4: Sohoton, Samar

This is another place which I haven't been to but is looking forward on going.  I did however visit Britannia Islands which is few hours (if I'm not mistaken) away from Sohoton.   What makes the latter so special is the stingless jellyfishes which usually are aplenty during November.  This is quite far from Davao city but it's one destination that I have to go to.  I wouldn't care much if I have to travel on the road for 8 hours.

Top 3: Donsol, Siargao/ Oslob, Cebu

This experience is already ticked off.  I went to Oslob, Cebu to witness these gentle giants.  Swimming near them is a very surreal experience that I would recommend anyone to try.  My brother backed out on this because he feels sorry for the whales.  But for me as long as we're not touching them, I think they're okay.  Plus before going through the tour, it's mandatory to undergo  an orientation to remind tourists the things that we're not supposed to do so it would be safe for the whales and safe for us too.   I have yet to post an article about this though.

Top 2: Vigan

My bad, this already belongs to Ilocos Region, but I figured it deserves a spot on its own because it's one of my favorite heritage places in the Philippines.

Top 1: Palawan [El Nido, Coron]

El Nido is a check, but Coron is a place I'd love to visit.  I'm someone who doesn't want to be bothered by many people.  I want to be swallowed by nature without having many people passing by me.  El Nido changed the beach game for me.  After that family trip of ours, it has become hard for me to appreciate just about any beaches.  The only beach that would probably top that would be Coron, that's why I have my eyes set on that baby.

So here is my list.  If you're planning to visit the Philippines, a local, a tourist who is already in the Philippines and who hasn't done some research as to which place to go next, then this list is the for you.  You may not be able to travel all of the places in the list, and that's okay.   At least you have a list to work with and hopefully this helps you decide how you would enjoy my country.

Do you have your own favorite that's not in the list?
