3-Hour Ride and The Pits from Hell

Share

Have you experienced being stuck in a van with someone suffering from bad smelling pits?

Well I had.  And to make matters worst, I had to be in that same god-forsaken van for 3 long hours, from Poipet going to Bangkok.

It was terrible.

My friend who couldn't get her mouth shut kept on complaining about it in our dialect.  We were in a van along with Thai natives and a few Europeans.  So thinking that she could get away with it, she let herself whine all throughout the trip, which at some point had gone a bit irritating.

Me on the other hand, had some feeling that even if she was speaking in our language the culprits with stinking pits would feel that she was talking about them.  For me it was impolite to kept on talking about it.  Besides, it wasn't helping me stay sane.  I was suffering.  And she always reminding me as to how disgusting it was just made me feel even more nauseous.

When we finally reached Bangkok.  The driver stopped right beside the hospital.  For some reason, the smell just infused the van so bad it had gotten pungent, and had me seconds away from vomiting.  That was when my brother sigh loudly on impulse, and that was when my friend was even more whining, loudly this time.  So to pretend that we were fussing about something else, we kept on pointing at the pictures on our camera to let the people see that we were reacting on what we were seeing and not what we were smelling.  We were bad actors by the way.  But who cares.  I'm pretty sure the rest of the people there already know by then.

It was so bad that I was thinking of going down the van in front of the hospital to have me admitted.  Diagnosis?  Respiratory tract infection due to consistent smelling of something shitty.   Yes, go down there and just ride a taxi heading to our destination.  That would be more attractive than being stuck in the gas chamber for 10 more minutes.

But yeah, we had to stay.  We paid for the van.  It wouldn't make much sense to go down just when we were already near our drop off point.

It was mind over gaseous hell from there.

And you know we were more than glad to end that long enduring journey.

Yaaayy!

Never again!
