Bloopers In Bangkok: Coin in the Airport Rail Link

Share
A woman coming from a 3rd world country, into a more develop 3rd world country, I've had to encounter high tech devices that haven't existed back in my place.  So bloopers await me.

First thing was the coin thing they have in the train station.  In Manila we have the card to get us passed the station.  It's also true in thailand, but in the Airport rail link they're using a coin.  You know the one you sometimes see in casinos.

So our friend Sir Ray purchased the coins for us, and he gave each of us this red coin.  They got ahead of me, passed the point where they are gates where you have to key in the coins.  I was too busy taking their pictures so I wasn't able see from sir Ray how to use this thing.

When my turn came, 2 officers were pointing at something.

Saying something in Thai like "kap kwalang puk", and I'm like overwhelmed because I don't have a clue.  I was expecting a hole where I could slid this coin in, but I wasn't seeing anything.

So while the guard was pointing the card label, I was saying.

"What to do?"

So I finally put the coin near the label and lo and behold, the gate opened for me.

I said... "Oh cool."

And you know, with scenes like that, you know that some people saw how stupid you are.  And I saw some guy smiling at me.  I wish he just found me cute for messing up.

Hey.  It happens! :P
